Introduction
We visited Europa-Park on November 21st, 22nd, and 23rd, 2025, for an epic three-day winter trip with more than twenty-four hours spent inside the park. It is safe to say we experienced close to everything Europa-Park had to offer, and we were absolutely blown away.Mack has created the blueprint for what a modern theme park should strive to be. It delivers, exceeds, and then keeps exceeding expectations at every corner, fully deserving the praise it receives within the theme park community.

Best Coaster

Mack, you son of a… you did it again. Voltron is the third coaster (and second Mack) to break the scale and take its place at the end of the table in the category for the best coasters we have ever ridden. With Voltron, Mack has somehow managed to create not one but two incredible rides merged into one perfect package. The first half is all about immense airtime and several zero-g sections, while the second half following the swing-launch lets Voltron show its teeth, delivering pure intensity and incredible pacing all around. It's the perfect contrast to its sister coaster Helix and they truly are two sides of the same, perfect coin.
Coaster Depth

We tend to compare Europa-Park to Energylandia a lot, but quite frankly the numbers do not lie. We rated the coaster lineup in Europa-Park higher than any other park we have visited. Wodan night rides took the crown as our new favorite true wooden coaster, and Silver Star forgot its 20+ year age as it threw us over its hills at almost 80 mph. Sprinkle on the ingenuity of coasters like Arthur, Eurosat and Euro-Mir and Europa-Park proved there is nothing "Disney" about its coaster lineup.
Water Rides

As per ParkRating protocol, we can only rate what we actually rode. During the winter season, both Fjord Rafting (the park's river rapids) and Atlantica SuperSplash were closed. Thankfully, Europa Park is a behemoth that features four water rides in total, leaving us with a classic log flume and a large-scale water coaster to enjoy and evaluate.
Tiroler Wildwasserbahn, the park's 1978 Mack flume, featured solid theming - especially during the indoor rockwork section where it intertwined with the Alpenexpress Enzian powered coaster. It featured two drops, though both were on the smaller side and didn't provide much of a splash (which was perfectly fine given the near-freezing temperatures!).
Poseidon is a massive water coaster - essentially a heavily extended version of 'Skatteøen' back home in Denmark - sporting a lengthy layout with two lift hills and their accompanying drops.
While both attractions were solid, the reduced winter lineup and the lack of a true standout water ride leave this category at a decent 6. It is crazy to think that there is yet another category where this incredible park could easily score higher, were it not for the seasonal closures. We are eager to return during the summer months to see Europa Park's water lineup truly shine.

Flatrides And Darkrides

We are used to parks emphasizing flat rides with the occasional dark ride thrown into the mix, but Europa-Park completely pulled the rug out from under us with its incredible lineup of dark rides and simulators. It is a good thing we lump flat rides and dark rides into a single category, because this park has so many unique ride types that it would be nearly impossible to categorize them otherwise!
We counted 9 dark rides in total (all Mack Rides designs, of course), one of them being the absolutely brilliant new revolving theater, Grand Prix EDventure (which functions a bit like the Disney classic, Carousel of Progress!). We did miss out on Elfenfahrt, a small boat ride, though it looked like the weakest link in an otherwise impeccable dark ride lineup.
Piraten in Batavia was the true standout and, without question, the best dark ride we have experienced so far. It will be fun to see how it holds up against the Disney dark rides once we eventually get there. The park also boasts a massive flying theater (Voletarium) and a classic madhouse (Fluch der Kassandra).
The only reason this category isn't a flawless 11 is the lack of true thrill flat rides. Not that the park actually needs them, but adding a few would be the one thing that could completely break our scoring scale.

Park Appearance

The first of many categories where Europa-Park truly stands out. Its world-class theming and insane attention to detail make the comparisons to Disney more than warranted, all while being very different from the Disney parks. It perfectly mixes the classic and historic feel with the absolutely stunning modern theming like coasters lighting up the sky at dusk or some of the most immersive queues we have ever encountered (Voltron and Arthur especially stand out here). When all is said and done, there was not a single thing we could subtract points for. A flawless 11.
Park Practicality

So far Europa-Park has been pretty much perfect but finally we get to an area where the park doesn't shine. It's very clear that Europa-Park is more than ready to sacrifice a simple layout in order to pack it with world-class rides, great restaurants and amazing theming, and the layout is genuinely confusing, made worse by an inconsistent (and sometimes non-working) app and very limited signage. There were plenty of ways they could have done more to help with the inherently confusing layout but they didn't. The high level of theming also hides some entrances, and more than once we figured out a ride existed because we saw the exit in a gift shop, only to then struggle to find the entrance itself. The big midways, free locker system and strong use of single rider lines are definite positives here, but for all the amazing things Europa-Park is, practical is not one of them.
Food

Europa-Park’s food selection is huge and cleverly tied to each country represented in the park, giving us three great days of meals from Croatian cevapcici to Austrian schnitzel. Eatrenalin also deserves a mention, we didn’t try it, but the idea of being driven through a Michelin-style experience by miniature Mack vehicles is wild. Most parks struggle with consistency over multiple days, but not here. Everything we ate was great, earning this category a strong (and rare) 10.
Snacks And Drinks

Like the food, Europa-Park offers a huge snack selection themed to different countries alongside classic park treats. Fresh mini donuts with caramel sauce were an instant favorite, and the Scandinavian cafés kept us warm with hot chocolate and kanelbullar. The only miss was the crepes, which lacked flavor even without our questionable apple-sauce choice. Everything else impressed, leaving this category at a strong 9.
Ride Operations

Let's quick-fire this one. The fastest dispatches we have ever seen.Three or more trains running even on a "quiet" winter day. Impeccably efficient and with constant queue handling. Mack's rolling-station concept they use on Arthur and Voltron has got to have its own shoutout as well for being a world-class innovation when it comes to improving the ride operations.
And the crown on top? Across more than twenty-four hours spent in the park, we did not experience one single breakdown on any ride. Not one.
This is an easy 11.

Park Management

Europa-Park is exceptionally well run, with consistently great service throughout our visit. Staff handled weather-related closures clearly and proactively, and the IT "grandma" fixing our app caching issues became an instant highlight. Merchandise game was strong, and we even saw rides continuing past official closing time, which was a welcoming surprise when trying to catch those final re-rides on Voltron. The only drawback is the smoking-allowed policy which we were not a fan of, but this does not come close to overshadowing all of the positives in what is yet another knockout category for this fantastic theme park.
