The Experience
Introduction
Viking Roller Coaster is a 2014 Spinning Wild Mouse from SBF Visa Group. To say that this ride has a bad reputation would be an understatement so naturally, we were very excited to try it out. After our ride it became perfectly clear why people don't want to ride this thing.
FOR YOUR SAFETY!
The most interesting and well known fact about this coaster is that, despite its simple and relatively mild layout, it's for some reason equipped with these massive over-the-shoulder restraints. Normally, restraints are designed to keep you safe but we have no idea what the purpose of these bad boys are except to induce a level of claustrophobia into the ride experience, as you navigate the tight, janky turns without being able to see or move your head much, except to hit your head against the restraints, of course.
So what else?
So outside of the uncomfortable and completely unnecessary restraints, what else does Viking has to offer?Nothing, really. The ride goes around some tight turns, hits some breaks, has some small, shallow dips, hits some more breaks and then at some point the ride ends. At least it did spin some, we will give it that. Unfortunately, the more it spins, the more scared you become for the next turn (which you can't see for the two large bricks your head is sandwiched between).
Conclusion
Viking Roller Coaster gets a 2.0 for being genuinely boring and very uncomfortable at the same time. It's not that the ride is actually super painful as long as you just ride it defensively (which your mind will convince you to automatically), it's more just the bewildering fact that you actually have to do this on such a simple and otherwise mild ride, which doesn't really reward you for your troubles either. I guess you do get bragging rides though.
