The Experience
Introduction
Kondaa is a 2021 Itamin Mega Coaster at Walibi Belgium. Kondaa is the undisputed star attraction in its park and it singlehandedly upped the standard of quality for new future coaster additions. This was our first true 'elite' coaster and it did not disappoint in any sense of the word. It's clear that Walibi knew how big of a deal this coaster would be and they made sure to create a dedicated plaza that could supports its expected reputation.
The Ultimate Airtime Machine
The term "Airtime machine" is an unofficial title that coaster enthusiasts give out to coasters that exerts great negative G forces. It's a title of great honor and never have we experienced a coaster more deserving of this title. Kondaa doesn't just have airtime but it has so many different kinds of airtime, ranging from small pops, solid floater and sustained ejector. From the moment you careen over the first drop and till you slam into the breaks, you'll rarely be in your seat at all.
One of the greatest First Drops
As the title of this section says, the first drop on Kondaa is a thing of marvel. There are many drop taller than Kondaa's (in fact, Fury 325's first drop is aobut twice as tall) but you will be hard pressed to find a drop with better airtime and laterals. This steep, twisted first drop first flings you out of your seat before suddenly twisting to the right. This means that you get flung to the left while already being out of your seat. The sensation is incredibly thrilling and it is a truly masterful first drop.
Gentle Flexing
It's incredible that a coaster with negative G's this strong, can still be as smooth as it is. Kondaa is probably one of the smoothest high-thrill coasters out there and showcases modern engineering capabilities at its finest. It's like the coaster gently flexes its power without ever sacrifices comfortability and this leads to an extremely thrilling but also very comfortable and re-rideable experience.
Dynamically one-note
Kondaa is both very dynamic while still being fairly one-note. It's one-note in the sense that it almost only focuses on airtime with a few moments of whip in between. It has no inversions and only some moderate positives G's in the first valley but mainly, it concerns itself with how to throw riders out of there seat. It's dynamic in the sense that it accomplishes this, in many different ways and subjects the riders to a plethora of different types of airtime (different angles, power and duration). Some more positives or an inversions or two probably would have earned Kondaa an 11 because it is otherwise, a close to perfect coaster.
Conclusion
Kondaa is a marvelous attraction, a masterpiece of airtime and an incredibly smooth ride as well. It is almost solely focused on airtime - perhaps to a fault some would say - but if you're a fan of airtime and smoothness, there won't be many better coasters for you to ride, than Kondaa at Walibi Belgium.
