Introduction

We visited Liseberg for the third time on the 25th of April 2026 from 10:45 to 21:45 for a massive 11 hours at one of our favorite European parks. However, while many of Liseberg's strengths, like its beauty, its strong attraction line-up and the great dispatches, still shone bright, this visit didn't exactly go as planned and Liseberg couldn't quite live up to the grand expectations we have for it.

Best Coaster

Now that we finally got to ride Helix we can very comfortably say that it's the best coaster in the park but also one of the most complete coasters we have ever ridden. Our first ever coaster to break the 10 scale and get the golden rating, and deservedly so. Mack Rides has made a ride that is not only incredibly smooth, these trains are legitimately amazing, but also offers seven great inversions, all offering different sensations of force, two launches, and a ton of airtime as you traverse the hills of Liseberg.Could the launches pack a bigger punch? Perhaps, but it doesn't really need them, the layout is so strong and the ride flows so well that you just come off wanting to ride again. You will be hard-pressed to find a better, more complete layout than this and therefore, Helix deserves to be in the conversation for the best coasters out there.

Coaster Depth

Even though Helix is a masterpiece of a ride, the remaining coasters are still really strong, they proved this when they had to carry our first visit where Helix was closed, and they absolutely did. Balder, Valkyria, and Lisebergbanan are a fantastic supporting trio and all strong coasters in their own right with completely different ride experiences. Luna is the family coaster Liseberg was desperately missing but they still have work to do in this area before they can claim to have a truly complete coaster line-up. Were Liseberg to get a new major family coaster, they would surely be considered one of the best coaster parks in Europe, more than they already are, that is.

Water Rides

This is another category where Liseberg was hit quite heavily, as one of their two water rides was closed due to the Halloween season. We found this quite weird, as the park still kept their log flume open, so closing such a major ride just for another scare maze (of which the park already had seven) wasn't a trade we found to be worthwhile. This meant that FlumeRide, the 1973 Arrow Dynamics classic log flume, had to carry the score, and we didn't really think it did that too well. While it does have a really cool dual station and some nice views, there was no real theming, and the drops didn't do too much for us. Therefore, Liseberg really needed that second water ride, which was closed during our visit, so this category ends with a rather lackluster score for now.

Flatrides And Darkrides

Here, too, the park suffered closures due to the Halloween season, as AtmosFear, the park's giant drop tower, was closed for a scare maze. We did try that specific maze, and it was pretty decent, but for theme park junkies like us, having such major rides closed for Halloween-only events will almost never be a worthwhile trade. Thankfully, the park does have a very impressive flat ride line-up that could carry it to a good score, even without one of their main flats in operation. Loki, the park's giant Intamin Gyroswing, is their best, and one of the best flat rides in the world. Mechanica, Aerospin, and Uppswinget are other noteworthy attractions, and there are many more good ones, so overall, Liseberg still manages to do well here.

Park Appearance

Liseberg remains an incredibly beautiful park. Whether you visit in October (last visit) or July (this visit), you will be greeted by an exceptionally clean and pretty park with well done theming throughout. Liseberg sits in a beautiful location, managing to be a sort of "hill-side" amusement park while residing in the heart of Göteborg. No matter where in the park you are or which direction you look, you will always see either Helix, majestically flying up and down the hillside or Valkyria and Balder towering in the distance, which helps create a comfortable but exciting atmosphere, one that makes you want to never leave. We sure didn't.

Park Practicality

We found the park's practicality to be a bit mixed. On the one hand, they do have a really good app, and most ride entrances are clear and easy to get to. However, the park also has the disadvantage of having a large section up on a hill, with only a couple of places to get you up or down from it. Furthermore, given the numerous ride closures and the staggered openings we experienced, we felt like the park's layout wasn't that intuitive, leaving several areas feeling a little empty. It's not that it is a downright impractical park, but we fully expect Liseberg to do better here on a revisit.

Food

Liseberg does very well in food. We got two meals during our 11-hour long visit, both of them fairly simple, but hey, sometimes you need to check if the foundations are solid before you start building on top of them. Our first meal was chicken nuggets and fries at Korvhallen. It was alright and had some dips like aioli and truffle dip.Our dinner was fish & chips at Skeppsmagasinet, another basic dish but this one was surprisingly solid and the surroundings were very relaxing, which felt quite needed at this point of our visit.Overall, while the overall food quality was nice but nothing special, we discovered even more of their food selection and realized that this park actually has a very strong food catalogue and therefore, Liseberg continues to do very well in this category.

Snacks And Drinks

A tradition started last October, a trip to Liseberg is not complete until we have had one of the waffles from Systrarna Olsons Våffelbageri. This time was no different. They are truly incredible, and when cooked just right, nothing beats them.That is the thing though, this time around they were slightly off, so we have lowered the score a bit. Aside from the waffles, Liseberg had a great selection, especially drink options like mango mojitos, slush ice, and bubble tea to survive the July heat.

Ride Operations

Operations were very good at Liseberg. They were running multiple trains on everything they could, and dispatches were fairly fast. Balder had a huge team in the station, and the crew at Lisebergbanan was clearly going for some kind of record in how fast they could dispatch the trains, which was fantastic to see. Not all rides had operations this great, but still, the overall level of operations at Liseberg was quite impressive.

Park Management

Liseberg is a very well run park with no facility closures and solid service throughout. The main thing here is the fact that they offer such a well-maintained virtual queue system completely free of charge. A few points are deducted for staggered ride openings, one minor ride closure, and Valkyria's new locker policy.All belongings must be stored in lockers inside the gift shop before entering the queue, which led to a lot of confusion and turmoil at the entrance, but overall, Liseberg is a very well run park.
