Introduction
We visited Liseberg for the second time on July 14th from 12:30 to 21:00 after only 9 months since our very first visit, but we had unfinished bussiness to attend to. Since our last visit, we had been dying to finally catch a ride on Helix and try their full water ride lineup without it being closed due to all the scare mazes Liseberg introduces during their Halloween period. This time, it was a solid 8½ hours during the summer season and this trip confirmed that Liseberg is one of the absolute heavyweights of Europe and one of our personal favorite parks so far.
Liseberg Review
Best Coaster
11Now that we finally got to ride Helix we can very comfortably say that it's the best coaster in the park but also one of the most complete coasters we have ever ridden. Our first ever coaster to break the 10 scale and get the golden rating, and deservedly so. Mack Rides has made a ride that is not only incredibly smooth, these trains are legitimately amazing, but also offers seven great inversions, all offering different sensation of forces, two launches, and a ton of airtime as you traverse the hills of Liseberg.Could the launches pack a bigger punch? Perhaps, but it doesn't really need them, the layout is so strong and the ride flows so well that you just come off wanting to ride again. You will be hard-pressed to find a better, more complete layout than this and therefore, Helix deserves to be in the conversation for the best coasters out there.
Coaster Depth

Even though Helix is a masterpiece of a ride, the remaining coasters are still really strong, they proved this when they had to carry our first visit where Helix was closed, and they absolutely did. Balder, Valkyria, and Lisebergbanan, is a fantastic supporting trio and all strong coasters in their own right with completely different ride experiences. Luna is the family coaster Liseberg was desperately missing but they still have work to do in this area before they can claim to have a truly complete coaster line-up. Would Liseberg get a new major family coaster, they would surely be considered one of the best coaster parks in Europe, more than they already are, that is.
Water Rides

Compared to our visit in October, Flumeride (log flume) suddenly felt a lot more thrilling in the summer months, or it might just be the weather talking. Riding along the hillside and passing under Helix and Lisebergbanan is not a bad setting either, even if the theming is not top tier. Kallerado is your standard but decent river rafting ride, neither great nor bad. Overall, a slightly above average water ride experience.
Flatrides And Darkrides

Flatrides are where Liseberg absolutely nails it. Loke is amazing. AtmosFear is, well, AtmosFear. Mechanica and Uppswinget are great, with the latter especially shining due to its placement at the top of the hill, offering a thrilling view of the park at night. As of 2025, Kraftverket is sure to make you reconsider having lunch beforehand.As for dark rides, there is one and it is more targeted towards the younger audience. For now, the flat rides carry this score, but a new, major dark ride would definitely take this score to the very top.

Liseberg remains an incredibly beautiful park. Whether you visit in October (last visit) or July (this visit), you will be greeted by an exceptionally clean and pretty park with well done theming throughout. Liseberg sits in a beautiful location, managing to be a sort of "hill-side" amusement park while residing in the heart of Göteborg. No matter where in the park you are or which direction you look, you will always see either Helix, majestically flying up and down the hillside or Valkyria and Balder towering in the distance, which helps create a comfortable but exciting atmosphere, ones that makes you want to never leave. We sure didn't.
Park Practicality

We feel like we really didn't do Liseberg justice here, in our last rating and we actually think the park does exceptionally well, given its inherent disadvantage of having the hillside to navigate through. The park is intuitive, with a main street cutting through most of the park with smaller branches shooting off into different directions. The app is great, and their free virtual queue system works pretty much flawlessly. The only reason this is not a perfect score is that navigating the hill to reach the upper levels can be somewhat straining but it really is one bad in a sea of good.
Food

The food at Liseberg remains strong. We have had two visits now, both times getting two different meals and even though nothing was a true standout, the selection is good and the quality is strong. Everything we tried tasted great, grilled chicken skewers for lunch and a charcuterie board with a German pasta dish for dinner. Overall, we ere very pleased with everything we ate at Liseberg but it is outdone by Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen when it comes to food (though, who isn't?).
Snacks And Drinks

A tradition started last October, a trip to Liseberg is not complete until we have had one of the waffles from Systrarna Olsons Vaffelbageri. This time was no different. They are truly incredible, and when cooked just right, nothing beats them.That is the thing though, this time around they were slightly off, so we have lowered the score a bit. Aside from the waffles, Liseberg had a great selection, especially drink options like mango mojitos, slush ice, and bubble tea to survive the July heat.
Ride Operations
8.5Liseberg was one of the most well staffed parks we have ever been to. Helix had a four person crew, and Balder felt like an employee hotspot, sometimes nearing double digits. Adding to that, each coaster was running multiple trains with minimal stacking, and we rarely experienced more than a ten minute wait at any coaster the entire day. The only issue was that Kallerado, the rapids ride, had several breakdowns throughout our visit but we feel comfortable stating that Liseberg has excellent operations.
Park Management

Liseberg is a very well run park with no facility closures and solid service throughout. The main thing here is the fact that they offer such a well-maintained virtual queue system completely free of charge. A few points are deducted for staggered ride openings, one minor ride closure, and Valkyrias new locker policy.All belongings must be stored in lockers inside the gift shop before entering the queue, which led to a lot of confusion and turmoil at the entrance, but overall, Liseberg is a very well run park.
