Introduction
We visited Liseberg for the third time on the 25th of April, 2026 between 10:45–21:45 for a massive 11 hours at one of our favorite European parks. However, while many of Liseberg's strengths, like its beauty, its strong attraction line-up and the great dispatches, still shined bright, this visit didn't exactly go as planned and Liseberg couldn't quite live up to the grand expectations we have for it.
Liseberg Review
Best Coaster

Helix remains the absolute star of Liseberg and is an absolutely fantastic rollercoaster, though it has dropped out of it's golden status. This is of no fault of Helix itself, it was just as great as the last time we rode it but after having rode Zadra and Voltron since our last rides, we simply realized that an even higher level of coaster goodness exists. But take nothing away from Helix, it is still one of the most complete coasters we've ridden and it offers the perfect blend of smooth and comfortable but also powerful and full of forces! It's true that it isn't a launch coaster that focuses on the launches itself but the amount of floaty inversions, extended hangtime and surprisingly strong airtime is something that most coasters can only dream of having. Helix stands strong as a true highlight in Europe.
Coaster Depth

The supporting coaster line-up of Liseberg is still very strong. Balder and Valkyria are two very strong supporting coasters and Lisebergbanan offers something very different from most modern coasters. Liseberg still definitely lacks a major, modern family coaster though the addition of Luna did help. Overall, it's not the deepest coaster line-up but it's a varied one, offering very different coaster types and they are all of very high quality.
Water Rides

We don't really have anything new to add as both FlumeRide and Kållerado Rafting were both closed during the entire day. Kållerado was completely drained of water for our full visit, and so was FlumeRide for the first half of the day, though we did just happen to be standing at the ride, looking at it, when they all of a sudden started filling it with water (which it did surprisingly quick might we add). Unfortunately, despite getting our hopes up, none of the two waterrides ever opened. Thankfully for Liseberg, since we have been on them just last year, they get to keep their previous score (at least in this category), but while the weather wasn't that great during our visit, we're still disappointed that both of the parks major water rides were closed for 11 hours straight.
Flatrides And Darkrides
9Liseberg's flat-ride game continues to be of the very highest tier in Europe, though we had hoped to be able to actually confirm this by making the full round through the many great attractions. However, Uppswinget, Mechanica, Lisebergshjulet & Underlandet were all closed for the entire day (except Mechanica which broke down while we were in the queue for it and never opened back up again). We also just about missed out on Stormvåg, though this we did know beforehand.Overall, because we have ridden these rides before, we can comfortably say that the ride line-up at Liseberg is incredibly strong.
Park Appearance
9Liseberg continues to charm with its mix of nature (the hillside, trees and small pond that runs through the middle of it) and the well-themed attractions. The park strikes a great balance between charming inner-city amusement park and detailed theme park. There are also no shortages of amazing views within this park as you can see most of Liseberg and a good amount of the surrounding Göteborg from a dozen different attractions. While the segregation of theming is fairly basic and it doesn't bolster deep immersion, Liseberg is a beautiful, lively, yet very comfortable park to spend a day in.
Park Practicality
8.5Nothing much to add for this category. Liseberg remains a park that does its best to combat the somewhat impractical hillside that splits the park layout. They do this by having paths that are easy to navigate, ride entrances that are easy to find and of course, our favorite app that is super easy to use and has lots of good information about the park and the contents of it. While it can be a bit exhausting having to decide when you take the trip up the escalators (or the straining walk if you want), the park really does the best with what it's given, and it really shouldn't be the practicality of the park that hurts your visit to Liseberg.
Food
8.5Liseberg does very well in food. We got two meals during our 11-hour long visit, both of them fairly simple, but hey, sometimes you need to check if the foundations are solid before you start building on top of it. Our first meal was chicken nuggets and fries at Korvhallen. It was alright and had some dippings like aioli and truffle dip.Our dinner was fish & chips at Skeppsmagasinet, another basic dish but this one was surprisingly solid and the surroundings were very relaxing, which felt quite needed at this point of our visit.Overall, while the overall food quality was nice but nothing special, we discovered even more of their food selection and realized that this park actually has a very strong food catalogue and therefore, Liseberg continues to do very well in this category.
Snacks And Drinks

We tried several minor snacks this time around, before ending with the ever-so-stable waffle at Systrarna Olsons Våffelbageri which is an absolute must-try snack at Liseberg. We tried some hot chocolate at Fröken Ellens Café, got some candy from the Helix store and of course ended with a nice pistache waffle which was as great as always, still our favourite snacks we have had. Overall, both quality and selection is good at Liseberg.
Ride Operations
7.5This is where the circumstances of our visit start to rear their ugly head. Ride availability was hit hard during our visit and while most of it were closures, which doesn't affect the operations score, we did experience breakdowns on both Mechanica, Tempus and Lisebergbanan, where we ourselves got evacuated from the mid-course brake run. Thankfully, only one of these didn't open again and we continue to be impressed by the general dispatch speed on the major coasters, running 2 or 3 trains and being quick with checking restraints, but we have experienced enough breakdowns and temporary closures over our 3 visits to proclaim that Liseberg isn't the most reliable park when it comes to ride availability.
Park Management
5Unfortunately, this is where Liseberg really dropped the ball during our third visit. We had major problems on our first visit with Helix being closed on top of several other major attractions being closed for the Halloween season but Liseberg completely redeemed itself on our second visit, having everything remaining open after the staggered opening period. Therefore, we fully expected this visit to go fairly smooth but it was anything but. After the first 45 minutes in the park we had gotten 4 rides on Helix, great! After over 3 hours in the park we had... the same 4 rides on Helix and nothing more. Now, this was in part due to us standing in queue for Mechanica just to have it break down just before our turn, as well as spending a solid 30 minutes at Lisebergbanan, getting evacuated from it. But it was also in large part due to us spending time walking around the park, wondering why just so many attractions were closed. These were the rides that were closed for the entire 11 hours: Luna, Lisebergshjulet, Uppswinget, Underlandet, FlumeRide, Kållerado and then Stormvåg which hadn't opened yet. One thing all these rides have in common: they were ALL supposed to be open during the summer season. Liseberg was effectively running a park without a dark ride, without a water ride, without their only true family coaster and with several other major flat rides closed. While we still need to remember just how amazing their free virtual queue system policy is, we have now had 2/3 visits be with several major rides closed for the entire day and the score has to reflect this, and so it will. We hope that our next visits will be more like our second visit in this regard.
