The Experience
Introduction
Vindfald is a 2024 Gerstlauer Euro-fighter at Tivoli Friheden. This was the replacement for the previous inverted rollercoaster 'Cobra' which closed after a fatal accident in 2022. This is the smallest Euro-Fighter ever made but its a delight that the park went with a major, proven manufacturer and that the spot was even used for a new thrill ride.
The Gerstlauer Special - good edition
So with most Euro-Fighters, Vindfald starts off with its signature element, the vertical lift hill that eventually leads to a beyond-vertical drop. This is always a highlight of any Euro-fighter, as the vertical lift hill is always a freaky way to start a right and the beyond vertical drop is a great way to ensure your coaster has a good drop, even when it's only 65.6 ft tall. The layout that follows is one of a few weird turns and dips, mixed with a vertical loop, a corkscrew and a jump into the break-run. It really is over before you know it but the elements it has are quite funky and offers some interesting sensations.
The Gerslauer Special - bad edition
As much as the lift hill is a guaranteed success, the same can't be said about the rides vehicles and restraints. For some reason, we still se Gerstlauer loopers being made with big and hard over-the-shoulder-restraints, even though we know by now that they can operate perfectly fine without. The fact that a ride like Kärnan at Hansa Park can operate with only a lapbar - knowing what that ride does - really puts it into perspective that this tiny euro-fighter has such bad ones. Not only do they make it so you don't have much space for your arms, but you also feel very closed in and locked-in-position. Overall, they are not great
Why are you like this?
Now possibly the most disappointing thing and the main reason why the score is as low as it is: the ride is kinda rough. Now if the coaster just had lapbars, this most likely would've just been a minor nuisance but becomes of the big OTSR restraints, you will have to ride very defensively to not bang your head against the restraints. It's very disappointing that a new for 2024 coaster by a major manufacturer has such basic problems as rough tracking and bad restraints, especially for such a small ride but that is unfortunately what we experienced when we rode this.
Conclusion
To conclude, we were quite disappointed with Vindfald. We knew that it was going to be a short ride and that the lift hill and drop were going to be good but we really hoped that the short ride experience would at the very least be somewhat smooth and exciting but we were let down. We hope that they can smooth it out but the bad restraints are most likely here to stay but hey, as long as this doesn't have any fatal accidents, then its already a massive improvement over its predecessor.
