Introduction
We visited Tivoli Gardens on July 12th, 2025 (17:00–24:00). Tivoli Gardens is essentially in our backyard, and we have visited on numerous occasions before ParkRating was created. However, during this trip, paying much more attention to the details gave us a newfound appreciation for the masterpiece that is Tivoli Gardens.
Tivoli Gardens Review
Best Coaster
7This is the one area in which Tivoli Gardens is lacking, as you simply cannot build a massive GCI or Intamin coaster in a park this size (please prove us wrong). Even then, B&Ms Dæmonen delivers a solid ride with good intensity, great inversions, and backed up by Tivoli Gardens' appearance and theming, it creates a very pleasant ride. But nothing to write home about.
Coaster Depth
5.5If we question whether Tivoli Gardens can pull off a single coaster, the question becomes even more troublesome when we look at the coaster depth. Dæmonen is supported by a smaller Mack family coaster (Mælkevejen) and then Rutschebanen, which has no right being as thrilling and smooth as it is, despite being built in 1914. So while not a bad lineup, it definitely lacks quantity and could use some more thrill rides.
Water Rides
0Not much to say. Tivoli Gardens has no water rides, and here the park size cannot be an excuse. We have visited numerous smaller parks that have managed to pull off a great log flume or river rapids.
Flatrides And Darkrides
8Tivoli Gardens delivers when it comes to flat rides, with everything from thrills in Aquila, the Golden Tower and the Star Flyer, to alright dark rides in Minen and The Flying Trunk. (Room for improvement here.) And all of them are themed to perfection. Unfortunately, our presumed highlight in Tik Tak was closed when we visited.
Park Appearance
10Just like Phantasialand, we had nothing to put a finger on when it came to appearance. Tivoli Gardens does its own thing, and it does it incredibly well. Every little detail feels thought out, and no matter where you are, there is always something that catches your eye. Pulling this off in the middle of Copenhagen truly deserves a 10.
Park Practicality
9.5Most often we rate practicality low when we rate appearance high, as most times one comes at the cost of the other. But for the first time, that was not the case. Tivoli (albeit helped by its smaller size) was logical and intuitive to navigate, with everything facing the main loop around the park. Only thing? Perhaps a few more signs to help. But even then, the app was also top notch.
Food
11Ever since we started our weird obsession with finding the best fast food burger, we’ve come up short again and again. That is, until we visited Gasoline Grill in Tivoli Gardens. Despite being a chain, they served up the single best burger we have ever tasted, with quality far beyond anything we have tried in any other park. (Ask for their signature sauce on the side, trust us.) Add on top the biggest and most diverse restaurant and food lineup we could have imagined, with over 60 solid food options. It truly shows that you do not solely come to Tivoli for the rides. You might just come for the food.
Snacks And Drinks
9.5A park that delivers like Tivoli Gardens does on food is bound to deliver on snacks as well, and oh does it deliver. With everything from gourmet popcorn (the liquorice kind is amazing) to crazy selections of donuts, waffles, pancakes, ice cream, and anything else you might wish for on a hot summer day, Tivoli has got you covered. Sidenote: While we visited during the summer, going during the winter is highly recommended for their traditional Christmas food and snacks.
Ride Operations
8Operations throughout were up to par, with a lot of trains on the coasters leading to limited stacking and friendly, efficient staff. Seeing a 111-year-old wooden coaster being run to perfection with manual brakemen was a joy to see as a coaster enthusiast. As for flat rides, there were some slow operations, but nothing too bad.
Park Management
9.5Rounding it off, Tivoli Gardens is an extremely well-run park all around with no facility closures or other odd policies. The park is packed to the brim with staff (especially during the weekend when they run concerts), and we never felt any frustration or confusion during our 7 hours in the park. Only flaw? Tik Tak was closed.
