Introduction
We visited Fårup Sommerland on April 17th, 2025, as part of our domestic Jylland trip in our home country of Denmark. This marked our first official ParkRating visit, and since neither of us had stepped foot in the park since we were kids, we were incredibly excited to see how this regional favorite had evolved since our childhood. It's clear that a lot has changed in the Danish theme park market over the years - but especially at Fårup Sommerland, which has transformed into one of the most exciting parks in Scandinavia.

Best Coaster

One of the exciting additions that has truly helped Fårup in its ongoing coaster battle with Djurs Sommerland is Fønix. This brand-new Vekoma Wildcat is easily the park's star attraction and a genuinely elite ride. In fact, we believe it is currently the single best coaster in the entire country!
It is an impeccably smooth and dynamic coaster featuring a well-thought-out layout and a smorgasbord of forces. With its diverse elements, it almost feels like it offers a different type of inversion for whatever you might prefer. While it is incredibly smooth and re-ridable, the most hardcore thrill-seekers might find themselves wanting just a touch more raw intensity to be fully satisfied. However, this is a crowd-pleasing machine that absolutely everyone can enjoy - and we certainly did!
It is an impeccably smooth and dynamic coaster featuring a well-thought-out layout and a smorgasbord of forces. Coaster Depth

Beyond their star coaster, Fårup offers a decent supporting lineup of coasters, the best-of-the-rest being 'Falken', the S&S woodie designed by Alan Schilke. This coaster is a very fun, although fairly rough ride with some decent airtime. Their Gerstlauer launch coaster 'Lynet' brings the power and intensity though we did find it quite uncomfortable between the big over-the-shoulder restraints and rough transitions. After that, the park sports several Vekoma family coasters, 'Orkanen' being the most exciting of the bunch. Overall Fårup has done fairly well in this category.
Water Rides
5Given the woodland theme and close-to-nature setting, you really would think Fårup would be the kind of park to bring a strong water-ride lineup, but we weren't particularly impressed with the offering at hand. "Træstammerne" is a Big Country Motioneering flume with three drops, almost identical to the one in Djurs Sommerland, but none of them offering much in terms of thrills and it was quite lacking in theming as well. Fårup Rafting is a Bear Rides rapids ride that was a nice, leisurely stroll but far too tame for our liking. We like our water rides to have some zip to them and give an appropriate amount of water but these two didn't really give that much.
Flatrides And Darkrides
4When it comes to rides besides coasters, Fårup is definitely still quite lacking in this department. They have several of the common ones like a wave swinger, teacups, a junior drop tower and a few other family-sized flats but their small Zamperla suspended frisbee 'Hvirvelvinden' was left to carry the thrills. Luckily, it's quite a forceful ride. Fårup also doesn't really have a proper dark ride, only an old and basic 4D cinema. Non-coaster rides aren't really one of Fårup's strengths.
Park Appearance
7.5One thing that has remained as Fårup's biggest selling point, pretty much since its creation, is its location deep inside a forest. The park has a lot of natural beauty and an entirely different, much more relaxed atmosphere compared to a lot of other major theme parks.The park feels very nice to be in and is kept very clean and tidy, though a lot of the scenery and ride themes do become quite repetitive quite quickly. It would be nice to see them branch out and make the park more visually dynamic in the future.
Park Practicality
3Fårups biggest disadvantage by far is its practicality. While it does have a few nice features like pay-before-parking and a nice food-ordering app, its weird, unbalanced T-shaped layout and confusing signage means that you're going to spend a lot of time hiking back and forth between the major rides. The lack of connecting paths or any type of shortcuts mixed with a few hard-to-find entrances (Orkanen, I'm looking at you), means that it can be quite a frustrating experience, especially if it's your first time visiting the park.
Food

Now to one of Fårup's biggest strengths, their food. It's quite clear that Fårup cares a lot about quality when it comes to food. They actively advertise it and fair enough, they sure can back it up. We ate at 'Spisekammeret' which is a food-hall type eatery with different types of food stalls inside. We got an extremely well-cooked and high-quality burger, very delicious. Fårup also has several other interesting food places, like 'Oasen - Social dining' which looks enticing for our eventual second visit.
Snacks And Drinks
6When it comes to snacks, it was kind of a mixed bag. Once again, the park offers solid variety and seems to pride itself on quality. We got some nice, freshly made pancakes from one of the stalls in the park. However, we also tried their very own, and at the time, brand new ice cream dairy 'Brogaardens is' which unfortunately left us quite disappointed. One of us got a slightly above average ice cream but the other got a quite terrible, completely crystallized ice cream that tasted very off. We will be sure to try their ice cream again so we can once and for all settle whether Fårup does have the goods, but for now it's a stalemate and a 6.0 rating.
Ride Operations

Ride operations were good at Fårup. The staff was very friendly and let people stay inside the trains if no-one was waiting at the station gate. This is the main reason why we were able to get 11 rides on Falken and 7 on Fønix in one day, while still exploring the park and its other rides. Some of the dispatches were a bit too relaxed and the employees did have a tendency to staple, which we don't enjoy but we do very much appreciate that not a single ride closure occurred despite it raining quite a lot that day.
Park Management

Fårup Sommerland is managed beautifully. Not only were all of the rides and facilities fully operational during our visit, but the park also provides incredible guest perks like free parking and complimentary water stations throughout the grounds. They even allowed access to the main square before rope drop, which is a fantastic touch given the park's somewhat odd, T-shaped layout.
We also thoroughly enjoyed the "everyone gets to ride twice" policy they implemented on the coasters - undoubtedly a perk of visiting on a quieter day. The only real letdown was the lackluster merchandise selection, but overall, we walked away incredibly impressed with how efficiently and thoughtfully the park is run.
