The Experience
Introduction
Fēnix is a 2018 B&M Wing Coaster at Toverland. This majestic ride is beautifully integrated into the park's themed land, "Avalon," and perfectly greets visitors as they enter the area while offering some fantastic photo opportunities. Fēnix is only our second Wing Coaster from B&M and feels quite different from Flug der Dämonen at Heide Park, largely because it features a more sprawling, elongated layout compared to Dämonen's compact mess of inversions. Fēnix has greatly helped Toverland further cement itself as a major player in the European market, delivering a much-needed - and surprisingly strong - one-two punch.
Soaring over Toverland
Fēnix is themed to a phoenix, a mythical, immortal bird originating from Greek mythology. In many ways, this theme is fitting for such an elegant yet powerful coaster. While many B&M loopers like Dämonen focus almost exclusively on inversions, Fēnix emphasizes speed and positive G-forces, featuring a few massive inversions, a hill over the water, and an intense helix on the far side of the layout that pulls a staggering 5 Gs!
Fortunately, Fēnix is very smooth. Even though the somewhat tight vest restraints aren't our favorite, they don't cause any major discomfort and still allow you to fully enjoy the strengths of the ride.

The Usual Suspects
When it comes to the layout of Fēnix, the usual suspects are still very much present. After taking in the excellent theming coming out of the station and ascending the 131-foot lift hill, you start with the classic wing-over dive drop that appears on most B&M Wing Coasters. This is always a great sensation that varies heavily depending on which side of the train you sit on. The layout also includes a graceful Immelmann, a whippy Zero-G roll, and, of course, that very forceful helix wrapped around a themed building.
The layout flows very well and offers solid forces all around. While it is obviously not an airtime machine - though you can catch some airtime on the big hill going over the lake - it makes for an overall very enjoyable experience.

Conclusion
While Troy is the undisputed standout attraction at Toverland, Fēnix is much more than just a supporting thrill coaster - it is a massive highlight attraction in its own right. Whereas Troy is aggressive and full of laterals and small pops of airtime, Fēnix is big and graceful, offering a smooth ride experience with very strong positive G-forces and classic B&M inversions that suit the model wonderfully. Overall, Fēnix is a fantastic thrill coaster and an absolute must-try at Toverland.
