Introduction
Diabelska Pętla or Devil's Loop is a sit-down looper made by french manufacturer Soquet. It originally operated in the UK, first as Soopa Loopa at Lightwater Valley before moving to American Adventure Theme Park, operating as Twin Looper. Finally, it made its way to Legendia in Poland where it had the honor of being the first looping coaster in the country and was the star coaster of the park until the arrical of Lech Coaster.
Not like the others
One thing you will notice straight away is that this coaster is not like a lot of other coasters you see. From it's dual-color track and weird looking trains to it's straight up bizarre layout, its clear that Devil's Loop is not like the other looping coasters out there. The thing is, it actually does look somewhat pretty when you first spot it, sitting majestically on its small incline with its two loops front and center. However, once you get a closer look you will also notice that outside the drop and two loops, there is just a tired mess of straight track and wide turns, basically turning from a looping coaster to a monorail.
The Trains From Hell
Once you get to the station you will get greeted by some very "unordinary" trains. The physical dimensions reminds us more of trains you would see on a woodie, except of course from the final car which has both rows facing each other so that the second-to-last row faces backwards and the final row faces them. It's very strange but somewhat of a novelty experience that you should try. However, the inwards facing train has absolutely zero legroom so I do not want to see what kind of demented games of twister you would have to play to fit 4 fully grown adults into this thing at once. The restraints on Devil's Loop are also absolutely horrendous. They have a fixed position which means that if you're on the taller side, you will have to slouch down into your seat and ride the coaster in a very unpleasent ride position. It also doesn't help that everything from the restraints (even the "padding") and the seats themselves are rock-hard, so don't ride this thing expecting a pleasent and comfortable ride.
A Looping Monorail Coaster
As stated before, this ride goes from fairly thrilling to a people.mover in almost an instant. It starts off with its very weird twisted first drop which has some shake to it but not much force. It then barrels through two surprisingly good loops, being both smooth and quite forceful, especially when taken backwards. And then the ride spends the remaining 30 seconds just meandering about at low speed (meandering as in its truest definition) before entering the station again. We don't quite understand how they were not able to come up with something better than this but perhaps it has something to do with the original park it was built for, so if anyone has ridden this while it was at Lightwater Valley, please let us know.
Conclusion
Devil's Loop is a, lets be honest, poor thrill coaster. It has two really good loops and taking them backwards is quite something but from its uncomfortable trains with downright terrible restraints to a ride that dies immediately after its first three elements, there just isn't that much enjoyment to get from this ride. It is very unfortunate that Lech coaster doesn't feature any vertical loops and then it also has the backwards facing train so there is actually reasons to check out this ride despite such a modern and much better coaster existing in the same park.
